Chapter 11 - USA is now called KEMI

As soon as the couple gets into the stolen sckycar Birgit started her research on car’s computer system.

They’ve discovered that the KEMI is the world’s biggest economy situated mostly in central North America, where its forty-eight contiguous states and Washington, D.C.. So now the United States is now called KEMI.

They decided to go to New York immediately to see for themselves the changes they’ve made.

The country is very similar to the United States with some modifications:

They speak Kemyu, a variation form of ancient Egyptians idiom and they have hieroglyphs as writing system. Kemi is officially a bilingual country and English (the language of co-colonization) is the second language.

In 2579 Before Christ an expedition headed by Nefermaat and his wife Nofret reached the Americas. Nefermaat departed from Mediterranean See with three ships; one larger carrack, Pagano, nicknamed Khered Sesh (kid with scribes’s inkstand), and two smaller ships, Birgit and Niña. They were the first to reach Americas. Permanent habitation did not begin until MA INEB HEDJ (New Menphis) was founded in 2577 BC.

Nefermaat and Nofret were treated as deities; they left published collections of more than 50.000 prophecies that have since become famous world-wide. They’ve left also successfully followed instructions about what to do in the next 3.000 years in order to promote KEMI as the leading nation of the world. There were instructions about first British settlement on the Virginia Colony in Jamestown in 1607 and the Pilgrims' Plymouth Colony in 1620, the wave of English migration in Massachusetts Bay Colony, the 1929 financial market crisis, and many others.

Nefermaat was a great pharaoh, he was loved by his people and wife, and they were considered the father and mother of KEMI nation. A huge statue of the couple stands at Liberty Island, in New Memphis Harbor.

“Great God!” says Pagano “During the last 3 months that we’ve spent in Ancient Egypt we’ve told Nefermaat everything about the global economy, history, wars,etc. as we knew that they could not be together in ancient Egypt the couple went to settle their realm here, in USA!!”

How romantic – says Birgit – they’ve created a beautiful and prosperous love story!

Yes but we should fix this alternative continuum, we are scientists and we know that we should not allow such enormous history aberration. Try to find using the computer system if they left some instructions about the construction of a time machine.

Birgit starts the research and finds some amazing data.

Come on Birgit – says Pagano – why are you so excited?

They left lots and lots of instructions to build a time machine, and a scientist named Richard Einstein is now engaged on the construction of a time machine in Illinois.

If they are building a time machine based on Nefermaat’s instructions, we may find a way to contact our sphere and fix all this changes.

Look at that Luiz – says Birgit showing an image on the screen of the Skycar’s computer - the sphere that they are building is far more advanced than ours, they even developed an interface that allow the travelers to communicate with the sphere anytime they want.

We should go there right away.

Few minutes later they reach REK DEPET installations amused by the magnificent peace of engineering that the KEMIS are building.

Chapter 10 Egyptian Time Machine

Birgit – the lion – wakes up and realizes that Pagano is no longer by her side; Pagano is now engaged in a very intense work:


What are you doing? Asked Birgit.

I really have not the intention to wait for the aliens to fix things, I don’t thrust Nefermaat. So, I want to go home today.

Birgit and Pagano have worked with the help of Nefermaat and found a way to send the transfer protocol to the Heron’s sphere, as they did with the help of Einstein in 1923.

As we well know, the time transfer requires a person on the ground to authorize it.

On one occasion Pagano has found in Nefermaat’s laboratory a piece of Magnetite, a form of iron ore. Its most unusual feature is that it is strongly magnetic. It was discovered by some Egyptian in Greeks territory.

So Pagano and Birgit used a modified boat tied to a hidden dock as an electric generator, four paddle wheels will drive a water turbine made with the magnetite and a rotor to generate electricity. They have built an electronic device similar to a capacitor that can store energy, every time this “so called capacitor” receives energy it creates a spark between two electrodes.

Pagano had also built a leather belt with cupper dots, organized as a sequence of binary codes. He will pull the leather belt inside a special developed switch, every time the cupper dot passes inside of the switch it closes the circuit and creates a spark that will generate a radio signal.

With this elaborated device Pagano intends to send a binary message to the Heron’s sphere.

In 1923 they’ve built a radio capable to transmit signals at the right frequency demanded by the sphere’s computer. But this time, Pagano will rely on the capacity of the sphere’s computer artificial Intelligence to understand that the organized sequence of radio signals is the key to transfer them back home, in 2079.

Pagano and Birgit left secretly Nefermaat’s house while he was sleeping and would not return.

Right before noon Pagano and Birgit are ready to go, they put the system to work and they start to transmit the signal to the sphere.

How could we know if that worked? Asked Birgt.
The only way we will know is to go to the mark on the river where the time window will open.

So they jumped on the boat and realized that some Pharaoh’s boats were after them.

How could we escape?

I was counting on Nefermaat’s betrayal and I’ve made some special modifications on this boat.

So when Pagano pushed the lever near the tiller, the boat divided itself in two, revealing a small and agile boat concealed.

What is that for?

The Ancient Egypt’s Hobie Cat Trifoiler; according to my calculations she can reach a top speed of 35 knots.

We will really need that speed, they are really close.

So the couple are now heading to the mark where the time window will form, leaving Nefermaat’s guards behind.

And then the time transfer takes place, with some blue bolts and turmoil.

São Paulo June 15th 2079 11:36 A. M.

After the thunder storm Pagano and Birgit are back to São Paulo, but something is wrong.

“We are not back” said Pagano “If we are back we should wake up inside the sphere, not on the streets of São Paulo”.

“Look” Birgit says astonished “The museum is presenting the art of Kemi,”

So what? Asked Pagano.

There is no such culture or country named Kemi, and Kemi is the name that ancient Egyptians called their country.

What do you mean when you say that?

I mean that we certainly have changed the Time continuum… we have changed our history.

What are you doing?

Pagano forced into a car a left the crime scene:

Chapter 9 Nefermaat is no longer a mystery

Now that Nefermaat know everything about the time travelers little Pagano says:
O.K. now it is your turn, who are you? How do you know about us?
I have seen this unusual star at the same nigh that you arrive, and… it is not the first time I receive visit of time travelers.
What?
Yes and they have warned me about your arrival, they’ve said that every time someone cut through the tissue of time they consistently release millions of traces of radioactive isotopes into the air and water.
Who were they?
They said that they were from a distant planet and we humans would know them as Zeta Reticualns.
And why are they concerned about us?
Because every time someone travels through time they change something in the time continuum and they work as the Universe continuum keepers.
Have we changed the continuum?
Yes first when you have met with Einstein and now that you’ve killed the future pharaoh Keops…
What? Asked Pagano - have we killed the biggest Pyramid’s constructor?
Yes.
What should we do now?
You must wait here for the visit of the Zetas, they surely will come.
Pagano and Birgit are perplexed, and Nefermaat decides to take them to a little stroll.

Nefermaat take them to the Sakkara (or Saqqara) complex, which includes the famous Djoser Step Pyramid.
I was once Imhotep’s disciple, in fact I’ve learned little from him because I was just a kid at that time, but I remember well when he said “now I’ve changed Egypt’s personality, from now on your son, the son of your son, and the others that will come from you will see Egypt with different eyes, just because I’ve done this… The Pyramids. Everybody should do something to change his own future, to better, to be remembered”. But in your case, you have change the past to be remembered.

Birgit asked to Nefermaat causing a little disturbance.
This is the first time I hear a lion talking, if a Lion is able to talk to me, I do believe that everything is possible.

Chapter 8 Farewell

The time travelers Pagano and Birgit have lost the time window of June 15th, so they have the good fortune to spend the month with Einstein; walked the street of Zurich, even if sometimes people reacted to the presence of a lion there.

They have now redesigned, reconfigured and renovated all computer modes to fit his new reality, and they are positive that they will go home.

They have settled the new coordinates for the next window and have established several radio contacts with the main computer in the sphere.

July 29th 1923, everything is ready, but they are not so sure that they want o leave. They were tied, connected together by a strong friendship, this last month was really nice.

I’m going to miss you! You look so much like my little Hans when he was 4 years old. Said Einstein to the kid.

Oh come on Doc. I’m 35 years old, I’m not a kid…. But, I’m going to miss you to.

The lion roared in a sad way.

As agreed the Ford Skycar went to the Zurich-See, opened the main anthem, made the turn to the castle, where they where suppose to see the time window.

When they were over the Bahnhoof Strasse Birgit’s lion Instinct senses a strange presence observing them.

But it was very important not to miss the chance, so they went on with the plan.

They have fired the Skycar boosters in direction of the time window.

Then a magnetic storm formed burning all equipments…

… and a thunderbolt hit the car.

Einsten was worried about the couple’s safety, maybe the transfer had not occurred. Maybe they have hurt themselves when the Skycar was hit by the lightening or crashed into the ground.

Einstein had to wait 26 years to be sure…

Chapter 7 Enter Einstein

Birgit and Pagano are now on the way. They are traveling on a Ford 1910 transformed into a Skycar.

What we are going to do now? The police are after us, we are stuck in time. Pagano said.

We should go on with the plan; there is only one person that could help us…Albert Einstein! Birgit said.

The travel was not so difficult to plan.

Their Avatars don’t need food, their bodies receives energy beamed by the sphere, so they have used all space available in the car to store Fuel and batteries.

This new Ford Skycar high velocity is 189 km/h speed, so the travel to Zurich took two days.

As predicted by the project’s history research team Einstein was there outside a house in Zurich Highlands.

They didn’t have the chance to test the landing devices that they’ve improvised for this Ford Skycar, but their calculations were precise and it landed perfectly.

Einstein seemed a little puzzled about their “Entrance” but as a man of science, he took it very well.

“Ich habe keine idée, wie ein Junge und ein Löwe zu meinen Garten fliegen konnten, aber die erkärung muss interessant sein. Prost!”

Birgit activated the sphere’s universal translator, so they can speak the language of the locals and can understand what they were saying.

They went inside the house and almost instantly start to tell Einstein his story.

As Einstein started to understand how Heron’s sphere works using his theories, he began to ask some questions:

As far as I understand you are in contact with the sphere, so why don’t you order the main computer to transfer you back to 2079?

The Mission Program Team set the Time Transfer Device with an encoded time transfer authorization, as we land on wrong place and date, computer has canceled the way back window. We must have someone on the ground to send the coordinates and the authorization code by radio waves and create a new window, that’s why we need you.

So what should we do?

We have to set new transfer coordinates to the main computer, the sphere then will open a window between 1923 and 2079 then, we should pass through it. Birgit said to Einstein.

Ok lets start, I have to send you back to 2079.

Chapter 6 stuck in time

Pagano and Birgit realized that the mission was not succeeding, but they still have a chance. Pagano drove the car to Peruíbe to meet Grandpa Pagano, Located less than 4 hours from the state capital with that car, he thought that maybe someone of the family could help them.

The couple arrived on Pagano’s property and they saw a senior man reading newspaper outside.

Grandpa Pagano! Screamed the boy with some emotion to see the first Pagano to arrive in Brazil. He jumped 7 generations and was there in front of the myth.

But Grandpa Pagano didn’t think that way about the newcomers, when he saw the lion standing beside him; he threw his newspaper at them, went inside the house, took his gun and started shooting.

This time Pagano was running fast without destination. Fast enough to take the car inside of a neck-deep pit of quicksand. Birgit jumped out of the car to a solid terrain. Pagano found some ropes inside of the car and tied the lion to the car.

Some minutes later they were not stuck in the mood but they realized that they were stuck in time.

Birgit avatar smelled fuel in a warehouse nearby, she went around the house searching for any door, they have abandoned the ware house because of the pelage.

Pagano stayed next to the car and start reading the newspaper. Astonished he realized that they were not just in the wrong place but also in the wrong date, they were suppose to be in Zurich on June 15th, but instead, they were in São Paulo on June 1st.

Birgit forced the door and they went inside of the warehouse, that place belonged to a technology aficionado, nothing could be more convenient.

Wow!!

Pagano is a highly experienced engineer and he is expert in antiques. Seen all that stuff he had an idea.

We have 15 days to reach Zurich, and I could use some stuff here to travel faster.

Pagano and Birgit worked day and night.

But they were behind the schedule.

At the 5th night they were relaxed working on the project when they heard some cars parking outside, it was the police.

“Get out of the warehouse, you are surrounded”

Guards outside heard some noise, and then…

Chapter 5 mistakes and sabotage

March 15th 2079 11:36 A.M.
SPSLS, São Paulo Space launching Site – Mission Control Room –
São Paulo – SP – Brazil

The next day, the mood of MCR "Mission Control Room" was both tense and boring, basically, there were three tracking stations receiving the signal simultaneously: São Paulo, Huston and Tokyo, and so far, they received nothing, they didn’t know if the couple had accomplished the mission.

The Mission Control members present at the MCR were Mr. Eduardo Sabino Heron's Sphere Project Director, Dr. Helena Karamanlis, MITk graduated in Kaotik Principles and Applications, Philosophy, Nonlinear Quantum Physics and History, UR-t15 Artificial Intelligence Unit (a robot) Deputy Director for Support Operations, Issao Yuiti Historian and field expert, and some otter staff members.

Issao breaks the silence with a mixture of tense and shy voice:

Sir, you’d better come see this…I have detect some anomalies!

What sort of anomalies? asked Mr Sabino.

Decogen reports 2% alteration in Birgit’s DNA replicate Avatar.

Translate that please.

Decogen is the equipment responsible for the Avatar replicas to be cast on the Earth’s surface in 1923, it takes the whole DNA sample of the crew and recreate a perfect facsimile of their bodies. But Birgit’s avatar is all covered with animal hair.

Animal hair!?

Yes Sir! And she has suffered some sort of morphology transfiguration… I’m doing some tests now…wait… Her DNA has mixed with… Phantera Leo!!

A lion!!!

And so does Pagano…his clothes, the clothes historically adapted to the avatar are…kid’s clothing!...Pagano has transfigurated into a Kid.

Then they’ve been interrupted by Dr. Helena Karamanlis:

That’s why we have no answer from them, we are waiting feedback from Zurich, but they still in São Paulo.

Completely perplexed, Mr. Sabino leaned his head back with closed eyes for some minutes.

Then another interruption, this time by UR-t15 Artificial Intelligence Unit:

Sir, I know what happened to Birgit and Pagano!

What is that?

The robot hit by Pagano’s skycar had changed the Decogen DNA discs and runned away.

Few minutes later, security team found the robot and related a discernment system malfunction caused by the accident.

Act of sabotage? Sabino asked the robot.

No way, it is impossible to anticipate every Pagano’s reaction to the accident in order to cause that precise damage to the robot. Explained UR-t15.

By this time the garage team had been trying to fix Pagano’s Sky car:

Hey, look what I have found here, it seems to be some sort of incredible biomechanical device. Far, far advanced – said one of the mechanics.

Before he was able to show the object to the other mechanic, the object self-ignited and explodes to the atoms.

June 1st 1923 11:36 A.M.

The sun was shining but suddenly, the ground was hit several times by bolts of lightning, and then a couple appears in the middle of the street.

The first car hits the brakes, and the two following cars crashed. The accident had involved many cars and the authorities came to see what was happening.

Then lots of people that was seen that strange event became eyewitnesses of the surreal transformation caused by the change of Decogen discs.

The couple took a car, but even the police was too scared to take some action in order to prevent the theft.

Chapter 4 A giant Leap

Technically, the only way this accident may have been avoided, I would have turned all systems off and chosen a safe place to hit.

In that sense I tried to hit one of the services robot at the SPSLS base and use its suspension system to slow my fall.

Tank god the only problem I had was the tickets for damaging public patrimony and some others local law violations.

Time travel became possible because the researches of Elefthérios Tycon, a rich Cyprus-born engineer aficionado in Einstein theories sponsor a billionaire experience.

He built research centers all over the world and the Brazilian team was doing great, so he decided to launch the time machine from São Paulo air base. Newspapers reporters from all over the world were there to cover what would be the next Giant Leap for the mankind.

“The space shuttle Heron's sphere will launch on schedule next Tuesday March 14th even though questions remain about small defects on heat shield and an skycar accident involving Luiz Pagano this morning.

Luiz Pagano and Birgit Bieringer will be in the center of the Heron's sphere, while its external Hull will rotate around the longitudinal axis. Scientists expect an enormous gravitational force field that may cause a giant storm in the pacific.

The sphere will create a window between the two dates, present and past and scientists will prove that they can make a perfect interconnection. As it is impossible to send their own bodies through time, a Decogen software and hardware will project his avatars on the surface of the planet, but make no mistake, whatever happens to the avatars on earth will create the same happenings to their bodies.

Elefthérios Tycon announced that the board of directors has decided to go on with the launching. The short-term mission teams have selected a little visit to Einstein in Zurich. They will arrive in Zurich on June 15th 1923, 10:15 A.M. precisely, they will conduct an interview with 50 selected questions elaborated by historians, common people, celebrities and, of course, theoretical physics scientists.

At the end of this meeting they will return to our present day. Lets go back to the SPSLS base they are ready to go.

They are in position now.

4,3,2,1 lift off.

The separation of the boosters…they are self controlled boosters, they will return to the surface, and will land on Guarulhos International Airport .”

The sphere has fired the spin thrusters.

As predicted we have that storm on the Pacific… Scientists have confirmed time transfer…Pagano and Bieringer are the first human being to be transferred to the past.

Chapter 3 - long journey

Little Pagano and his lion are in front of that strange house asking themselves what does that symbol stand for, when a strange voice came with the answer:

This is the mark of three pyramids… let me see you pendant!

And still they stand, silent with their thoughts as that strange woman took the pendant:

You must be the travelers, come on in, he is waiting for you.

Pagano knows that his visit to ancient Egypt was an unplanned trip. Probably they must be mistaken for someone else, but, he knows that pharaoh’s guards are after them and getting inside that house would be better than stay on the run.

After 20 minutes of a silent waiting they are invited by the strange lady:

You have been accepted, he is waiting for you.

Nefermaat is sitting in the lotus pose as he says:

I see that you have traveled long and unconventional distances to be here. I also see that you are in the wrong place. Believe-me when I say, I am the only hope, I know how to take you home.

They are much perplexed at that, how could he know?

But, you must trust me, and tell exactly what happened.

Ok, you are right, we are not from here, we are not from this time, we came from the future…

I know this… I need the details.

My name is Luiz Pagano and this lion is my wife, this is not our real body, this is what we call AVATAR, our bodies are in orbiting the earth 350 kilometers away from the surface.

I remember that morning in São Paulo Brazil, it was march 14th 2079, Woke Up early because I had so much to accomplish.

I was driving my skycar … do you know what a Skycar is?

I know more than you think, go on.

So… I was driving to SPSLS, São Paulo Space launching Site, near the beautiful Ibirapuera Park, and then I had trouble with the directional thrusters of my Skycar.

It was bad working in a different way. So I turned the self-drive computer off but even the manual controls seemed to have self-will, an accident seemed to be imminent.

Chapter 2 The mysteriuous Mr. Nefermaat

The hot sun is beating down on the face of the Pharaoh, while little Pagano struggles to withstand the hot ground burning on his bare feet, and then the silence was broken by the voice of the Pharaoh.

“I hereby declare that should my son die as a result of the violent crime of treason of these two prisoners, I request that the persons found guilty be subject to...the immediate death penalty. As my son still under medical observation, the prisoners should be tied to the post, and if they failed judgement against Ma'at, god Sobek will have their bodies”.

“Is that bad?” the kid asked the guard beside him.

“God Sobek manifests his will using the body of the crocodiles, if the Ma’at feather is against you, you will be eaten by crocodiles”.

Then, Little Pagano realizes that the Khet insects are dancing frenetically, that should be one of the corrupted guards that will help them.

The lion jumps on the other guard’s back knocking him to the ground gnawing and clawing his back.

The little kid takes the opportunity to take the flabellum (nekhakha - used by the Pharaoh as a symbol of sovereignty) from pharaoh’s hand and uses that as a NUNCHAKU.

Frightened, guards all step back while the kid advances demonstrating his ninja abilities. He jumps over the lions back and hide him as a horse to the woods.

But they are running in direction of the river, they are quick to enter the water. As they reach the middle of the river, they realize that are surrounded by crocodiles and hippopotamus.

Then little Pagano throws desperately his new NUNCHAKU at the animals but, they realize that the chances for survival are minimal.

But in a smart movement, they position themselves right between the Hippopotamus and the crocodiles provoking a fight among the animals.

Pharaoh guards are frightened enough to cross the river, and they escape.

In the middle of the woods they see a couple holding hands and even kissing each other.

“O my god, that is Nofret, she is married to Rahotep and she is having an affair with Nefermaat!”.
Partially hidden behind some local trees they see the couple behaving in a very suspicious way. As Nefermaat left Nofret, Pagano and the lion follow him to a house.

When they get closer they see a familiar symbol on the facade.
“It is the same symbol located on the back of the pendent!?”

Why Nofret helped them escape?
What is that symbol?
Are they conspiring something?
